It’s best to get your carpets professionally cleaned regularly, but in between cleanings you can also do a lot to maintain your carpets and prevent a build up of pet hair.
Use a sponge mop to remove surface pet hair from your carpets. You will want to use a sponge mop that is used only for this purpose to prevent adding any soil from your kitchen to your carpets.
First, vacuum your carpet thoroughly. Then lightly spray the sponge mop with water. You don’t want the mop to be soaking, just lightly damp.
Gently move the mop over your carpet to remove the pet hair from the carpet fibers.
The pet hair will clump and can be picked up by hand or you can go over the area with a vacuum again.
